FAQ

How long does it take to make a flag?

Please see the announcement on my Etsy page to see when I am currently scheduling flags to be made. Scroll down a bit to find the announcement section.

How is the flag created?

Every Halyard flag is hand painted.  A stencil is used to draw on the outline for some flags but all painting is done free hand.

Do you do custom orders?

Absolutely! If you go to any of my listings on Etsy, you’ll see a “request custom order” button. From there, you’ll  be taken to a message where you can send me an image and let me know what size (see the next question) you want it in I can give you a quote.

What are your standard sizes?

Most flags follow at 2:1 ratio of length to width. However a variety of flags do follow a different ratio. Below is a size chart for a 2:1 ratio flag. If you decide to order a flag with a different ratio, I will be sure to let you know the dimensions of your flag before payment is processed!

Large: 80 x 40 cm (32 x 16 inches)
Medium: 60 x 30 cm (24 x 12 inches)
Small: 40 x 20 cm (16 x 8 inches)

Halyard is also more than happy to make a custom size flag!

Can I hang my piece up outside?

Yes you can! Most pieces are finished with a weather proofing stain that guarantees 6 years outside. Camping signs are finished with a stain that guarantees 4 years.

How can I pay for my flag?

The best way to purchase your flag is through Etsy.

Payment can take a variety of forms! Cash, cheque, or email money transfer are ideal.  However, I can also take any credit card.

When payment is received for the flag, production will begin! A couple of big commissions with a lack of customer follow through have made this payment-first rule part of the Halyard policy. Thanks for your understanding!

Do you ship?

Of course! Shipping is not included in the cost of the flags and will be determined by your location.

Can I pick up my flag?

Unfortunately, no. Currently I am at my studio infrequently and not on a fixed schedule.
